Boys’ Cross Country Go Down State!

DSC_0735The boys’ cross country team placed 15th at the State Championships last weekend. They were led by senior Walmer Saavedra who took home All-state honors for the second straight year. This is the highest finish from a CPS team since Englewood placed 9th in 1968.

Sophmore Denilson Saavedra said he enjoyed the experience.

“State was pretty cool and it was different from the track state,” Denilson said. “When we went last year and the year before that for track, we stayed in dorms until race day. But this year we stayed in a hotel and it was nicer because you have bathrooms right there in your room and the beds are comfortable,” he said.
