The Lindblom wrestling team earned the conference championship in January, which is Lindblom’s first wrestling conference title in over a decade. In total they have about 12 team wins thus far with even more personal wins and records on the way. Some junior varsity wrestlers have also been awarded with medals from the Hope Academy Tournament.
Since the beginning of the season which started back in November 2015, the team has had overall successful matches, both team wins and individual. Sophomore and Co-Captain Kobe Allen said, “This season our wrestling team has achieved a lot… we’ve also won conference by going undefeated and are on our way to the state competition, so I think this season is one of our most successful to date.” The coaches and the team’s support systems are all proud of the hard work the team has put in.
The wrestling team is made up of boys and girls underclassmen, upperclassmen and team managers. The managers keep match records and individual scores and they are also in charge of fundraising for the team. Current manager and junior Brianna Parks said, “If you would like to be a wrestling manager next year be on the lookout at the beginning of the next school year. We are in need of dedicated managers next year who are willing to dedicate their time to make us conference champs for the 2016-2017 school year.”
The team has had a successful season, but it’s not over yet. The Lindblom community is excited to see what else the season holds and what else the team has to offer. Go out and show your LMSA support by attending the team’s upcoming meets! Good luck and go Eagles!
