If you’ve been following lovebirds Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) since the beginning; you must be a true ‘Divergent’ fan. The movie series is based off of the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.
The two teenagers living in a dystopian Chicago face many challenges in a society divided into five factions. Opposites defiantly attract when it comes to Four and Tris, but though they are different, both are strongly opinionated and compassionate about each other. Together the two have unlocked secrets, ran from their previous lives, watched their loved ones die, and found a whole other world outside their own; so what’s next for the courageous couple?
Many are highly unsure of what to expect next. Most fans of the series were not pleased with the outcome of ‘Insurgent’ (the second movie) because vital info from the book had been left out. In the past, the series has been compared to the famous ‘Hunger Games: Trilogy’. Some say they are similar because of the futuristic vibe, while others believe the two are nothing alike. Yet, the idea of splitting the last movie into two parts is something they actually have in common. The last of movie to the ‘Divergent’ series, ‘Allegiant’ has been scheduled to release March 18.
So far, ‘Allegiant’ has gotten good and bad comments. I’m not going to spoil the ending, but I will say someone important dies which is what has caused so many conflicting views among fans. Some are not sure if they will go see the movie for fear that the ending will not live up to the hype. When asked if she would be going to see ‘Allegiant’, sophomore Kelsi Williams said, “I haven’t read any of the books, but yes I plan to see the last movie because I still like it.”
On the other hand, senior Jasmine Purnell agrees with most unhappy fans and said, “Yes I have seen Divergent and read all three books, but I won’t be seeing Allegiant because I know how it ends.” Whether or not the movie producers will change the ending of the movie is still undecided. Veronica Roth, author of the book series said she would not change a thing about the ending because it makes the characters even more relateable.
Will you be going to see ‘Allegiant’? Make sure to watch the trailer for a sneak-peak of Four and Tris’ new adventures together. Will their love story continue or shockingly end? So many questions still unanswered…….Hopefully ‘Allegiant’ will make a striking appearance of being the hottest movie of 2016, instead of a big flop that critics keep talking about.
The final film in the series, The Divergent Series: Ascendant, will be released on June 9, 2017.
